“The ship of fools” is an allegory which is a staple topic in the Western literature and arts. This allegory rendition consists of a vessel boarded by people who are disoriented or oblivious of their predicament. They are sailing a ship without a pilot, entirely unaware of their heading. In literary and artistic compositions of the 15th and 16th centuries, the motif of “The ship of fools” also served to parody “The ark of salvation”.

Relying on that allegorical imagery which includes notable personalities and important artifacts from the latest 50 years of our city's history, this work aims to put forward and to reassess the questions on the direction the city of Skopje is taking, as well as on our ability of coexistence. At the same time, this work poses the question on the responsibility that we all share in the development and the life of the city.
