During his study trips throughout Europe, he directly confronts the creative spirit of the European avant-garde.
Paris, Zurich, Hanover are just a few of the cities in which he resides and where he comes into contact with members of the Dadaist movement. The collage Run, Run, Merz! Njeg Geh, geh, Merz! (from 1929 in collaboration with Kurt Shwitters) dates from this period as well.
The close friendship between Svirakus and Shwitters lasts later on, through their correspondence which they maintained until the death of Kurt in 1948.
